My condolences to Mary and family on hearing of the passing of this evangelical pastor. Mel led me ( and many others ) to the Lord in 1983 while pastoring Grace MB Church in Abbotsford. What a joy to have known this man who was on fire for the Lord and his word. We will see him again when we see our saviour.

Mary and family,
I just wanted to write to express my condolences on the loss of your husband father, grandfather and great grandfather.
As I will be unable to attend the funeral or viewing
I wanted to share a few thoughts.
I am grateful I was fortunate enough to meet with you and your husband at your home last fall it was a pleasure to be able to have the opportunity to Express my thanks for your part In bringing myself and my brother from the Flin Flon area to the Steinbach area;
For us as young children to be with my father‘s family. The Friesens and the Brandt’s. Your kindness and generosity have always been appreciated.
Thank you both
Sincerely Brian Friesen

Sincere condolences Aunt Mary. Uncle Mel was such a vibrant and wonderful man - he will be greatly missed by many. Mom and Dad loved the time they spent with both of you when you ministered in Swift Current. I know he will now be with them, and they can continue their time together. Love and prayers, Candace Smereka

Helen and I send our sincere condolences to you, Mary. We treasure the memories we have of you and Mel. Our journey with you started in Crestview in 1967 when we attended that church. Mel was a 'Mountain' of a man spiritually and we benefited greatly from his insights and friendship. God bless. Diedrich and Helen Toews

Sending love, hugs and praying for each of you, but especially you dear Mary! Mel was an amazing man in many ways, a good friend, a man with a hearty laugh and with a great love for sports. What stood out to us was his love for his dear wife and his family! He loved you all well and with complete devotion.....as was his love for the Lord. Larry loved the visits because they usually ended up discussing scripture or ministry. We can't be there to give you hugs but, we will be there in our hearts. Sending love, hugs and praying for your family. Larry and Joan

To Aunt Mary...
Are sincere condolences to you and your family. We just received this sad news of Uncle Mel having passed.
We want you to know we are thinking of all of you and although we are out of the country we are “close with our thoughts”.
I so distinctly recall as a young boy of Uncle Mels passion and love of his family. His dedication to serving the lord was unwavering.
I so remember him talking about the love he had for his congregation as he was giving us a tour of his church prior to Church service on a visit at the time. I was likely around 8 years or so and there are imbedded memories of Uncles Mels passion to reference biblical verses in all conversations. Even as a young boy I used to admire as I would wonder how is it anyone could have such a large memory.
He was caring, his abundance of love for so many was evident at every moment.
Our prayers for all of you..

Our condolences to you as a family. As a younger pastor I have always appreciated and respected Pastor Mel. And also enjoyed playing some ice hockey with him too! We pray for God's comfort at this time, but we have that assurance your father is with the very One, Jesus, whom he so passionately preached about and served so well. A good man indeed!

Garth, Carly, Tyson, Rylen:
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Your Dad will be missed by a lot of people. Always had a smile on his face. He’s probably made a lot of friends up in Heaven already. May you feel God’s loving arms around you.
