I know this is rather late, but I couldn't let time go by without saying anything. My husband, Doyle, and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Aunt Agnes a number of times in recent years. We visited them a couple of times when Uncle Alvin and Aunt Agnes lived in their retirement apartment. She was so loving and positive and she made you feel very special. We grieved when Uncle Alvin passed away but were happy we were still able to visit Aunt Agnes in the nursing home. She still made you feel very special even though she was unable to do the whole hostess thing. We talked about many things, but most precious was when we talked about the Lord. I can see how the boys each thought she loved them the best. She had a way of doing that with everyone. We will miss her greatly.

I remember meeting you for the very 1st time being captivated by your beautiful smile. The great thing is that you never went anywhere without it. Love you forever. Rest peacefully now. Love Trish.

I was very sad to hear of my aunt's passing. I am named for her (Dorothy Agnes), as she was a significant person in my father's life. For a time when I was a child, we lived relatively close by (in southwestern Manitoba), and we visited Aunt Agnes and her family several times over those years. I live on the East Coast now, and was so happy to have a chance to visit her two summers ago. She was a lovely woman, and I will miss knowing that she is there. Although her family lived through a lot of adversity when they were all children, she was so kind and gentle.

My wife Judy and I were blessed to share a few moments with Aunt Agnes this past summer. She connected quickly with people, even allowing Judy to feed her after refusing to eat for the wonderful staff person trying to help her. Like so many of our cousins, the path of life has taken us to places that have prevented frequent interaction. I remember her unqualified love, kindness and fiercely independent spirit. As a young boy, my family frequently visited their home, and very often I would just go over to play with my cousins. She always wore a smile and an apron and had something cooking on the stove. Her food was always so good, I believe because she blended in her own dose of love and blessing. In those days they had a pump with a handle in the kitchen that brought water into the house. None of us had financial wealth but the love in these homes was priceless. It was very touching to see her last year and to be flooded once again with all those memories. I will miss her but am delighted that she is with Uncle Alvin and her Lord. Prayers and condolences go with the family as they grieve her departure from this world.

My contact with my Aunt Agnes was seldom because my family lived far from Steinbach. So we saw her only for short periods of time. She had the ability to let you know she loved you and liked you without needing a lot of time to do it. My wife, an outsider to the Janz family and to Steinbach, knew that Aunt Agnes was a friend. We exchanged Christmas cards until just a few years ago. I miss her. Melva and I send our sympathy to the family. Dave and Melva Brandt

A fond memory of Agnes from Ruth Reimer
Years ago Agnes sought me out to join her in teaching a girls club at the EMB Church. It was a new venture implemented because of the great number of kids in the church at the time. She patiently went through the materials with me and so we began. We had so much fun! Her patience, guidance and infectious laughter brought us through! She couldn't quite get how the "new fangled praise songs" added value to the material being taught but she sang with great spirit anyway. She was a little woman with a large heart for the LORD for sure.
When on earth we say: "She's gone"..... Heaven says: "She's home!"
