It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cornie on Monday, April 16, 2012 at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, Manitoba. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Carol, son, John and wife Tracey, their two sons, Nolan and Fletcher, his sisters, Sara Reimer, Minnie Janzen, Linda Penner (Ernie), Annie Plett (Joe), Irene Janzen, brother-in-law, John Dueck and sister-in-law, Bernadette Janzen. He will also be missed by Carol’s family, brothers, David Friesen (Irma), Merlin Friesen (Wanda), Howard Friesen (Donna) and sister-in-law Phyllis (Wes Geddert). Cornie was predeceased by his parents, John and Getruda Janzen, sisters, Tina Dueck (John), Thelma and her husband, Abe G. Penner, brother, Alvin Janzen and brother-in-law Aaron Reimer, his parents-in-law, Frank and Katherine Friesen and brother-in-law, Ray Friesen. Cornie was the owner of Janzen Garage in Blumenort, Manitoba until January 31st, 2003, when poor health caused him to retire and pass on the business to his son, John. He devoted much of his spare time to church work, his beloved steam engine and gardening. To all those who cared for Cornie, whether as a friend, doctor, or relative, the family says a hearty thank you. A celebration of Cornie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 Mackenzie Avenue, Steinbach, MB. On Friday evening at 7:00, there will be a viewing at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfield Drive in Steinbach. Interment services will be held at the Blumenort Cemetery, Rd 311 on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Movement Centre of Manitoba, 1646 Henderson Hwy., Wpg, MB, R2G 1N7 available at the funeral service, as well as at the viewing, in honour of Cornie’s grandson, Nolan Cornelius Ross Janzen.
