Obituary of Abram Doerksen
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, Abram H. Doerksen on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the age of 83.
Abe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jessie; three daughters and their families: Linda Kupferschmid and her children Steven, Kevin and Tanya (Carly and Juliann) Kupferschmid; Erna and John Penner and their children Jeff and Jennifer (Justina and Everett), Blake, Josh, Jordan and Allison Penner; Irene and Ralph Egger and their daughter Jessica.
He was predeceased by his parents Abram and Helen Doerksen, two sisters and four brothers.
Our dad loved life and had an inquisitive mind, always looking for the new adventure around the corner. His life was dedicated to the service of others, always looking for ways to help. Upon retirement after 42 years of working at Loewen Body Shop he joined his wife Jessie in volunteer service at the MCC Thrift Store until his untimely passing. Dad was also a faithful servant at the CMC Church in many capacities.
“Although our hearts are full of sorrow we are comforted by the knowledge that you are with Jesus your Saviour whom you loved and served until seeing Him face to face.”
Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Monday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in Abe’s memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), 134 Plaza Drive; Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
