Obituary of Frank Giesbrecht

Frank Giesbrecht, a humble servant of the Lord’s work, loved by many!

Frank Giesbrecht, 77, of Steinbach, MB., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, September 11, 2020 after a short battle with cancer.

He will be forever missed by his wife of 56 years, Susan Giesbrecht, son Wilf (Eleanor) and their children: Jaeden, Leanna (Javid), Kaley, Isabella; daughter Matilda (Ray) Rempel and their children: Christian & Jaime.

Frank was born October 25, 1942 to Franz & Katharina Giesbrecht in Blumengart, Paraguay.  On August 12, 1964 Dad married Mom.  They moved to Canada in 1976. Dad had a brilliant mind and spent most of his working years at Barkman Concrete, building and maintaining the various machines in the building.  Family was very important to Dad.  He loved spending time with his immediate and distant family.  He cherished his grandchildren the most.  Dad loved music.  He and his wife spent many years bringing music and singing to those who were alone.  This brought them much joy! Dad had a rock-solid faith, and he and Susan spent every morning reading their Bible together and praying together until the very end.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the all the medical team.  To the special home care workers, Ron & Dorothy, as well as the many others. Thanks for caring so well for Dad.  Thanks to the Palliative care nurses Debbie & Pauline, your support was amazing. Thank you to Dad’s many friends who stopped in to support Mom and Dad during the past few months.

A private family service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Due to Covid 19 this will be by invitation only.  Burial will take place at the Sommerfeld Cemetery, New Bothwell.
