Obituary of Peter Bueckert

Peter Bueckert, aged 74 years, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; Peter A, Nikki, Angie & Sabrina; Barb (Brent) Crawford, & Douglas; Charles (Miryam), Justin, Hannah (Josiah) & Anthony; Erin (Agnes) & Jared.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, both parents, and several siblings.

Born on January 25, 1946, in Hauge, Saskatchewan, to Abram and Katharina Bueckert (Wiebe), he was baptized in an Old Colony Mennonite Church in Winkler area, and married Elizabeth Neudorf on May 1, 1966 in the Reinland Mennonite Church in Grunthal, MB. They were married for 53 years.

Dad worked many different jobs during his married life, the longest of which was for the Town of Steinbach as a sanitation technician. He also worked for the municipality of Hanover, supervising the landfill on the 52 Highway close to Kleefeld, MB.

He had a great love for old cars, and in his later years loved collecting old toy cars to build a mini auto-wrecking lot in his apartment. He spent a lot of time collecting and selling scrap metal with his children, and they have fond memories of trips to Winnipeg to sell a load of scrap, going to salvation Army to buy toys, to McDonald’s for supper and then back home.

He accepted Christ as his savior as a young man and worked all his life to live as a servant of Jesus. He took his family to church when he could, and trusted God to lead him through trials as they came along. He had a simple faith that said, “All we need is Jesus” and now he has gone to live with Jesus.

We would like to thank the Emergency Room physicians and nurses at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, and the EMT’s that came to his suite, for all the kind care that he received.

A private family livestreamed funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Followed by a private family burial at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
