Watching the funeral brought tears to my eyes.... seeing my cousins sharing their stories and songs made me misty eyed. The grandchildren all loved her so much. The video of her expressing her love for them did me in! I am now full on crying! my fond memories of Aunt Helen are many... always a big smile, always pies, but the one that stands out is when she, with supernatural strength single handedly lifted a combine to rescue her young Jeff who slipped under and the support gave out. She was Super-Mom in that moment and will always be SUPER Aunt to me.

Darlene & I got to know Mrs. Fast while visiting my Aunt Anna Fast at Bethsaida Place. It used to be that when we from our church (Steinbach EFC) would bring a program at Cedarwood. She was always there in the back of the chapel with a son or nephew listening to the service with the help of a translator typing out onto a screen so that she could follow.
Mrs. Fast was always cheerful and smiling. There are many memories that you can cherish as to grieve her passing and rejoice that she has been promoted to her heavenly home. May God comfort you!

My sincerest condolences to the Fast Family. I remember attending Vacation Bible School at her home. I had this photo in my collection. I think it was the KEMC Sewing Circle. Helen is second from the left. Wishing you peace.

My condolences to the family of Helen Fast. May the words of the psalmist in Psalm 147:3 be your comfort. "He heals the broken hearted". When I started school, Miss Klassen was my teacher for 4 years. I was never the best 'pupil', but I have been so grateful for what she taught me in those years. As part of our penmanship exercises we were given 'half scribblers' in which to copy many hymns and gospel songs. But not only did we have to copy these songs she also taught us these songs so we could sing them. In my ministry to the elderly and especially when I was chaplain at Salem Home, Winkler I have often sung these songs that she taught me. Songs like "Almost Persuaded" and many more, Whenever I would sing these songs I would remember your mother. May the words of one of the songs comfort you. 'When all my labors and trials are o'er, And I am safe on that beautiful shore; just to be near the dear Lord I adore, will thro' the ages be glory for me... She has reached that Glory.

Helen was a very caring and thankful person. I remember when she and I went to Nebraska and Colorado for a holiday. It was a special time of sharing together. She was also a special friend to our mom and spent many times visiting in our home. It was also special to be invited to her place for breakfast and enjoy her waffles. Even though she often struggled to hear what was said she always tried to be as attentive as possible and always so positive. Now she is fully healed and rejoicing in her Savior.

My sincerest sympathies to the entire family. I did not have the pleasure of meeting your mom/grandmother but of those family members I have met, it is clear how her legacy lives on through the generations.
Thinking of you during this time,

Helen Fast was exceedingly compassionate and kind. As a young boy, I remember being at a birthday party for Donnie (early 1970's), and the birthday cake had pennies baked within it. The reasoning was that each boy would have a piece of cake and get a penny or two. A penny being worth a fair amount back then. I kept eating cake, but getting no penny. I must have eaten at least 3 pieces in hopes of mining a pay off, but with no success. Mrs. Fast noticed that all the boys had gotten pennies except me, and with greatest compassion and caring, she went to her purse, and fished out a number of pennies for me. That act of kindness is something I have never forgotten.

My most impactful memory of your mother was her caring and nurturing soul. It was no small chore staying abreast of four very active and adventurous boys!
As I spent many days at your house, through no choice of hers, she was like a second mom to me at times as well.
All my love and peace be with your family during this time.
