Obituary of Katharina Pries

We as family in great sadness announce the passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother on Friday May 18th, 2012 at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 82 years. Left to cherish Mom’s memory are her children: Linda (Peter), Leona (Ken), Leonard (Miranda), Larry (Wilma), Luella (Gord), Laura (Rick), Monty; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother Abe (Laverna) Wiebe, brothers-in-law Jake and John (Edna); sisters-in-law Agatha Pries, Mary (Dick), Agatha H., Helen (Cornie); many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter W. Pries, daughter-in-law Joanne, great grandson Jordan, her parents Peter B. and Agatha Wiebe, brother Peter, sisters Helen and Susie, parents-in-law Peter F. and Mary Pries, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Mom was born on December 3, 1929 to Peter B. and Agatha Wiebe in the R.M .of De Salaberry. She grew up in Barkfield, MB. Mom married Dad on July 28th, 1951. They resided in Barkfleld and Pansy area. Later they moved to Steinbach and raised their family. Mom was a homemaker; she enjoyed cooking meals for her family. She had her own special recipes where she didn’t have to use measurements - the taste and smell of her food was always so good. Mom took care of many foster children and also did babysitting for others and treated each one as if they were her own. She had a special place in her heart for children. Our family gatherings were always a joyful time and the grandchildren were her greatest highlight. Mom loved lots of singing and visiting with friends and family. After dad’s passing mom’s health began to decline. Life seemed so overwhelming at times and many times she would say “Maybe Jesus will come and take me home soon.” God saw her getting tired and weak and came to take her home. In Matthew 11:28 our Heavenly Father reassures us “Come to me all that are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”. Viewing will be on Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. The funeral service for Tina Pries will be held Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover Street in Steinbach. Interment at Heritage Cemetery. We as family are thankful to have had such a loving and caring mother. We will miss her dearly but we know that she is released from all sorrow and pain spending time with Dad in her heavenly home - Safe in the arms of Jesus. We express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Patrick Fredette, Dr. A. Bissonette, nursing staff at Ste. Anne Hospital, and the Cedarwood Staff for the care that was given to our Mom. Special thanks to Aunt Agatha Pries and cousin Joanne for all the visits and support given to our Mom. We thank all the friends and relatives for the prayers, and comforting support given to us during this difficult time. The Pries Family
