Please accept our deepest sympathy at the loss of your parents. Your parents were an incredible, generous and faithful couple who were an inspiration to us all. We will miss visiting with them and will miss Auntie Anne's phone calls.
The memorial service was so beautiful – your tributes to your parents were wonderful and very special. The video of your family was so great to see - the picture with all the cousins at Grandma Funk’s place for Christmas included my two of my brothers and my sister - all the pictures brought back many memories.
I was only 10 years old and I don’t remember a lot but I do remember their wedding in that big white church in Altona. Your mom had on this amazing headpiece and all of us girl cousins thought she was a princess and she was marrying her handsome prince (your Dad was very handsome) – we all thought she was so lucky.
We couldn’t wait to go downstairs for the food because we knew there were sugar cubes waiting for us – sugar cubes were a treat that were only served on special occasions. I remember going back to your Dad’s family farm for the evening celebration where they put your Dad on a blanket and the men held onto the edges of the blanket and tossed your Dad up in the air – I guess it was a Mennonite tradition.
When you lose beloved parents, you are left with many wonderful memories. Cherish those memories – we hope they bring you comfort and peace.
May God walk with you as you journey through the next couple of weeks and months.

Mr. & Mrs. T was how I knew and loved Anne and Neil while they lived in Calgary. I didn't have any grandparents nearby, so our church connected our family with them and I remember going over to their place for lunch after church and going to Fish Creek Park with them for walks. I particularly remember Neil giving me shoulder rides, which felt like being up in a tree he seemed so tall. I remember their wood map of Canada and all their collector tea spoons. I really missed them when they moved back to Manitoba to be close to their family. I am so thankful for the ways they loved me in my childhood. Sending love to all their family as you grieve.

Thiessen Family - So sorry to hear of the loss of Neil and Anne. They were a great couple; always serving together. We enjoyed serving with them at Harvest Food Bank at GMC - they were a great team. One memory is going over to their home with some of the guys from the Barnabas house for dinner and playing a lively round of the game Greed. Lots of laughs! Praying for God's peace and comfort at this time.

Uncle Neil and Auntie Anne...YOU WILL BE MISSED! We enjoyed coming to visit you both at Pembina Place and having profound discussions with Uncle Neil! He often surprised us with his good memory! I certainly will miss times spent with Auntie Anne, celebrating our birthdays, or running errands, etc! Thanks for all you taught me, so much more than you would imagine! But we are thankful for the role model you both were to us! And that God was gracious in relieving both of you from your suffering and taking you home to be with Him!

To Neil and Anne's family - I am so very sorry to hear that both your parents passed away so close together and take comfort in knowing they were together at Pembina Place when they died - together in death as they had been in life as husband and wife. I recall many conversations with Anne and Neil at Pembina Place when I was the Nurse Manager there from 2014-2016. They were such wonderful people whose love for each other was so evident when they were together. Neil loved to joke around with the staff and Anne was so kind and caring, always so cheerful and she brought that onto the floor with her. My sincerest condolences to you all. May God shower you with God's richest blessings and mercy during this most difficult time and may your memories bring you a small measure of peace in the days and weeks ahead. This will indeed be a very different Christmas for you all. Blessings and peace, Andrea Grozli, Former Resident Care Manager, Pembina Place PCH
