My sincere condolences to all of the Koop family. Time spent with the Koop family in my youth are some of my fondest and most cherished memories....and saying goodbye when they left MacGregor was one of the saddest. Your mom and dad seemed to create such an atmosphere of love, joy, sincerity and care for others, which was evident in the entire family. And it always seemed to me that they put up with, and excused with grace and humour, many crazy shenanigans their children got up to! I always had deep respect and admiration for both your mom and dad and I know the family is deeply grieving their loss. If my parents were alive, they would be echoing these sentiments....Clara and John were very beloved to them. May their love and witness live on in all of you kids and your families

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Although it has many years since I spent any time with her or your family, I have many fond childhood memories of time at your family home. Your mom's smile and laughter is very clear in my mind. I always felt welcome in your home, whether for a short visit, a meal (what's one more mouth to feed?), or a sleepover with Sylvia. I also remember your mom's kindness after my mom passed away. I pray that God will comfort and encourage you, and give you peace throughout this time of grieving.

My condolences to the Koop family on the passing of your mom, grandma and great-grandma, Clara Koop. I have fond memories of your family growing up in MacGregor; in particular, the impact your parents' ministry had on me spiritually in my formative years. Two years ago, you said good-bye to your dad, and I had the privilege of interacting with some of the family in a chance meeting in the airport as you made your way back to your homes. And now your mother is gone as well, leaving such a void. I was praying for you during the funeral service as you grappled with this reality. I pray comfort for you, a peace that passes all understanding, and hope for that day when you will be reunited with your wonderful parents. Blessings on you as you carry on their legacy.

We have many fond memories of your mother and father. It goes back to Kamsack, where your parents and us were pastors in Region 3. They would come to visit us in Weeks, SK. They were such an encouragement to us. Both were such positive individuals and ready with support and advice. They were so accepting of people from different backgrounds.
Another special time was visiting them numerous times in Mexico. Your mother’s gift of hospitality, her cheerfulness, humour, sincerity and caring made an impact on these Low-German Mennonites. They were accepted quickly and had a fruitful ministry there.
When your mother had an aneurysm, the future looked very dim. She got good emergency care in Chihuahua City and was flown back to Manitoba Health Sciences Center, where she received good intervention and care. By God’s mercy she recovered amazingly, even though it was slow. Her speech was restored and soon she was driving again.
When they moved to Steinbach, we were fortunate to buy their dining room table and chairs, which we are still using to this day. It was always good to meet them, visit and reminisce. When your father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, you mother became his primary caregiver. That was a painful time for Clara, but she served with love and joy. We would frequently interact with them at a Resthaven service. She was in for the long-haul. When your father passed on to glory, she grieved but also rejoiced. Now she is at home with her Savour and reunited with her John.
May God comfort each one in the family, children, grandchildren, and great-grand children.
Love & Hugs, Lester & Darlene Olfert

We have fond memories of Aunt Clara. She was always friendly, kind and gracious. She and Uncle John were very dear to us because they agreed to officiate at our our wedding in spite of getting negative feedback for doing so. John and Yolanda

Condolences to Clara's family. I have fond memories of Clara, both from childhood days in Kleefeld, and also more recently meeting her in our visits to Resthaven. She always took the time to come and say"hello" and was a very faithful visitor. She proudly told us about her family and remained cheerful inspite of John's difficult journey, though it was not an easy time for her. As her family, you must feel very lucky to have had such a loving and courageous mother! In sympathy, Carol (Friesen) Janzen.
