Glenda E Bobbie posted a condolence
Saturday, June 5, 2021
I have just learned of the passing of Fred and offer my deepest condolences to your family.
My mother and father, Ellen and Jack Wilson, worked with Fred and Edna for many years at Oakland Hatchery in Winnipeg. I have many memories of both your parents. The drive to Kenora in the white Pontiac convertible. My first time in a car with the top down. Such fun. We also had the privilege of attending Fred and Ednas’ wedding. My mother passed away in 2019 and still spoke of Fred and that they had managed to stay in touch until the last few years.
Again my sympathy.
Regards,
Glenda Bobbie (nee Wilson)

I just watched your Dad/Grandpa's funeral service online. Too bad we are in the midst of Covid with no ability to have ALL his many friends and family attending in his honour. Nevertheless, you all presented a wonderful, heartfelt, beautiful tribute.
I knew Mr. Kaita at an arm's length, through my parents admiration of his good spirit, his community involvement...and his calm, peaceful manner in all things. He was indeed "an honourable man".
His kind and beautiful heart shone brightly through his daily endeavours...and his fantastic flower gardens that were simply unmatched by anyone else in town.
May you find great comfort, inspiration, and pride in all the wonderful memories he left for you.
Sincerely, Elaine (Stott) Krahn

My condolences to the children of Fred Kaita. I have fond memories of times that Alvin and I spent with your mom and dad during our deacon days! I am also one of the lucky recipients of some of your dads perennials and collected seeds. I have really appreciated the amazing floral arrangements that your dad prepared for many church events, especially Thanksgiving! When your dad worked side by side with Alvin during a major repair on the church building, Alvin was overwhelmed with your dads endurance, he never stopped! Your dad has left you all a wonderful legacy that you will be able to cherish for years to come.

Percy, Perry, Cheryl, Karen and families - On behalf of my mom Nancy and the Elias family here in Calgary, I send condolences on the passing of your beloved father and grandfather. He was such a kind, gentle, humble man with a beautiful soul. He was so open-hearted and calm at the influx of Elias family members descending upon your home for the numerous family gatherings hosted by himself and your mom. Thank you for sharing photos and memories during the service yesterday. May these many memories, love of family and friends, and prayer bring you comfort and peace in the days and weeks ahead.

Even though your dad had dementia, he had the most amazing stories to share and it was an honor to hear them (now I know who Pepay was). He will be greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days to come...

My deepest sympathy to the Kaita family. Your Dad/Grandfather was an inspiration to many in our community. He inspired me personally to volunteer and be community minded. Fred and I have known each other for many years, as a neighbour
, I remember the light in his garage being on 4 or 5 am and he was working. Later as a mentor, Fred showed his unending humility and ability to bring people together for a good cause. Many have been mentioned in His obituary. His constant work ethic and his vision for gardens were two that struck a chord with me. In 2007, Fred envisioned a Memorial Rose garden and then he collected his diggers. I was one of them... under his guidance and direction, Fred's girls(and some guys) helped him to create the centre piece at the Heritage Centre which is now the Norman Wittick Memorial Rose Garden and the Pioneer Commemorative Garden. Fred was well into his eighties but his energy never waned, never a complaint, never a bad word. I am so blessed to have been associated with this wonderful man.

This is how I remember Fred too - perfect picture! I was in my early 20s when I met Fred in the Steinbach garden club. He was a mentor, and not only shared his abundant knowledge, but also was generous with his plants and seeds. One of my favourite memories of Fred was visiting his yard, walking through the woodland paths he created, and being gifted divisions of plants. His boundless energy amazed me! I have missed his presence at club meetings, and send my condolences to the family.

My condolences to the family. Fred was my next door neighbor in Niverville for many years. Will never forget the few times when i had a few to many dandelions growing that all of sudden they would just seem to die. Fred would never want to embarass me by asking me to get rid of them so he chose the early morning to spray them.
Fred was kind, he was gracious and caring. Our community of Niverville will forever be better because of him and his family being a part of it. Rest in peace Fred

To the Kaita family. We will always remember you father as a kind and generous, soft spoken man. He planted his beautiful flowers in the empty lot next to our home. What a joy to watch him take care of that garden. We still have a photo of our daughter (in 1989) holding a huge bunch of gladiolus that he gave to her. Our thought and prayers are with your family at this time.
