Dad was born on March 24th, 1933. He grew up in Niverville Manitoba, one of 10 siblings. He met and married Dorothy Harder in November 1953. Their first daughter was still born, followed by five healthy children. They lived in Winnipeg for a short time after marriage where dad was the site layout foreman at many places such as the Winnipeg concert hall, Manitoba Hydro building and Grace hospital. They also lived in Niverville and farmed with his dad. In their early 20s, dad and mom committed their lives to the Lord and were soon led to do mission work in Little Black River, Manitoba. Shortly thereafter, they sold the farm in Niverville, bought the farm in Stead and moved to Powerview for the winter in 1967. They raised their family on the farm and instilled in their children a strong work ethic and the importance of a relationship with Christ. Mom and Dad ministered to the people of Powerview and Pine Falls for many years, leading bible studies for both adults and youth.

Over the years, dad and mom witnessed to their hired hands, neighbors, friends and extended relatives. There have been many people who became like family as they were cared for by mom and dad, with an open home and open hearts. In 1990, mom began her journey with Alzheimers. This devastating disease took mom in January 2012, after being in a home since 2000. Dad spent as much time as possible with mom, caring tenderly for her until the end of her life.

In February of 2013, Dad married Sara Peters. They resided in Winnipeg until the time of his death. They were married for eight years, and Sara’s family proved to be a large blessing to dad over that time. Dad has been attending Albright church in Winnipeg for many years and loved to reach out to many people with both the grief counselling class and the seniors bible study.

Though dad will be dearly missed, he has gone to his heavenly home and is celebrating with his loved ones there.
