Obituary of Angéline Fillion

Angéline Imelda Fillion was born on April 9, 1943 and deceased on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Hôpital Ste-Anne Hospital.

She is survived by her loving husband Philippe Fillion and will be greatly missed by her three sons: Robert, Alain (Chantal), Daniel (Natalie); her grandchildren: Sylvie (Dylan), Serge, Éric, Émilie and Janelle; also, her great-grandson Brody.

She was predeceased by her father Joseph; her mother Marguerite (née Tousignant); brother Rosaire; brothers-in-law Marcel Tougas, William (Bill) Pollock and Patrick Bérard.

Angéline will be deeply missed by her five sisters: Yvonne Bérard, Florence (Gilles Boulet), Marie-Rose (Brunel Girardin), Ida (Guy Levesque) and Lucille (Paul Dupré). Her six brothers: Philippe (Agnès), Aurèle (Fernande), Léon, Jean (Lucie), Raymond (Diana) and Marcel (Joanne); along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom married dad in 1969 in La Broquerie. They built a home in Ste-Anne in 1972 where they enjoyed raising their three sons. Mom worked as a cook and did other duties in the kitchen at the Villa Youville in Ste-Anne for 20 years. She walked to and from work daily no matter the weather.

Family was very important to her. She enjoyed camping with dad every summer. There she met with family and friends. Mom liked to socialize.

Mom’s passions were cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. Mom was a really great cook. She spoiled dad, the boys and also the grandkids with her meals, freshly baked goods, pizza, and her desserts. We will certainly miss her skills in the kitchen. She loved the garden. She was greatly proud of her roses, peonies and lilies. Her and dad would work long hours in the garden. She knitted and did crochet. She made blankets, toques, slippers, etc. and would crochet doilies, table spreads, etc.

She especially was very proud of her grandkids and great grandson. She would walk the girls to school every morning, she would look forward to this every day. She really enjoyed her great grandson. She loved watching her sons play hockey and other sports. She also loved going to her grandson’s hockey games. Whenever there was an accomplishment in a sporting event (baseball,

Taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, etc.), she was there cheering them on. She loved Christmas concerts; mom’s favourite time of the year was Christmas. This is when she would shine in the kitchen and decorating the house. She insisted every year that we celebrate Christmas at her place.

Mom fought to the very end. She had several health issues and she faced them all head on. Unfortunately, she lost the last battle. In her own way, she called her husband and sons before she went to heaven. Mom, we love you very much and we will really miss you. The family would like to thank the nursing staff for the great care that she received at Hôpital Ste-Anne Hospital and the EMS for their care and service.

The funeral will be held on August 21, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ste-Anne Roman Catholic Church. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, only her immediate family, along with her and dad’s siblings along with spouses are able to attend.
