Peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2012 Peter Andrusiak, 87 of Sirko, Manitoba passed away in his sleep at his home. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sophie, of 63 years. Also his six children Christine (Larry) Block, Emil (Beverly) Andrusiak, Shirley (Dan) Brown, Emily (Rick) Driedger, Wesley (Theresa) Andrusiak, Edward (Donna) Andrusiak; sixteen grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, one sister Olga Elyk and sisters-in-law Rosie Andrusiak and Grace Andrusiak. Dad was born in Sirko, MB on March 10, 1925. He grew up on his family farm where he lived his entire life. On June 19, 1949, he married Sophie Klym, also of Sirko. Together they farmed and raised their family. Dad worked at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg for 25 years as a custodian as well as keeping the farm productive during that time. Dad loved his family and especially treasured the visits from his great-grandchildren. In Dad’s later years we could always find him happily working in his huge vegetable garden. Dad also enjoyed picking mushrooms with Mom and playing Bingo. Dad was a very hard working man, who was forever busy doing some task and his work was always well done. He taught us all how to work hard as well. “You will always hold a special part of each of our hearts, Dad and Gido. May you rest in peace.” Prayers will take place on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. also at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at the St. Elias Ukrainian Orthodox Church Cemetery at Sirko, MB.
