My earliest memory of Uncle Stan and Auntie Rose is of their great generosity. At their house, I remember being told that I could go get a chocolate bar from the fridge - an entire, full sized chocolate bar! To a child well before their teen years, this was astonishing! Who could - or would - just give away a full sized mint Aero bar?! It may seem silly now but it, in my mind, it goes with all words I heard spoken here at Rose's service. Generosity, kindness, gentleness - given with out the expectation of repayment or return. An investment made in expanding goodness beyond one's own circle because it is what God desires most from all of us. Because it is right and good and true. God bless you Auntie Rose!

Rosemarie was a wonderful friend to share life with when I was a newly-wed living in Barrows & Mafeking while she and Stan were at National Mills. We were both teaching and involved in the church-plant with Dave & Lydia and often spent Sundays together. I especially remember how thrilled she was that her son, David started to read at a very young age. I thought Rosemarie was brilliant with a very bubbly personality.

''She gave her heart and soul to her calling and had a positive impact on our children's lives ..." This was certainly true in our family. After all these years, Jon, Christine, Rick and Tom still speak warmly aboiut what a good teacher she was. As her neighbour growing up, I appreciated her common sense advice and example. My heart has another wound when I realize that one of my very special cousins is no longer available for a phone call. Rose knew my mother well and was always willing to share memories of her with me and with my brother Raymond, about a time when we were too young to have memories. Now in heaven she can share with our mom how deeply we missed her when she left us too soon. Roy and I loved having Rose and Stan visit us in Whitehorse and in their home. As a child I got to go to National Mills for a fun visit and when I had cancer treatment in Winnipeg my cousin Rose found me and came for a visit. Very recently Rose mailed me a lovely picture of Uncle Abe and Aunt Elizabeth and my parents enjoying a picnic in the late 1930’s which I treasure and have on my bullentin board. Thank you Rose for who you were in obedience to our Saviour. Our family truly treasured you and you sisters singing for our Dad at his funeral.

The world has lost an exceptional human. Conversations with Rose were always so inspiring, her deep concern for the vulnerable and disadvantaged was always evident, and she did all she could to bring fairness and justice and help to situations she encountered. She was a woman of deep and humble faith, I will so miss our impromptu conversations in the church foyer. Travel well my friend.

Rosemarie mentored me in my first four years of teaching, sometimes with words but mostly by example. She cared deeply for her students, was proactive rather than reactive in dealing with students’ problems, showed me that giving 110% was more rewarding and fun than giving anything less, and that solid dedication to the job was what every child deserved.
She became a dear friend, full of stories and laughs, a deep thinker and theologian who extended grace to all, and a wickedly sharp Scrabble player. I miss you already, Rose.
Love, Wendy

Mrs Penner was my grade four (and favourite) teacher. Her classroom was a safe space to learn, be challenged, and grow. I recall at the end of the year, she went through the roll and told each student what their strengths and gifts were. Who did that in the ‘70’s?! Her smile, generosity and kind words will be greatly missed in her community. Enjoy your new home Mrs Penner. You will have lots of friends there. ❤️
