Obituary of Dana Dueck

Very early on June 25.1982,in Winnipeg,MB. God gave us a beautiful gift. Dana was born and our family was complete. She is survived by her husband, Kris, her big brother Ian Dallas and his two sons Noah Hudson and Dustin Riley Keating, and their mother Priscilla, and her very proud parents, Denis and Wilma Keating. She is also survived by her parents-in-law, Alfred and Marj Dueck, sister & brother-in-law: Tanya & Greg Penner, and nephew Isaiah, brothers-in-law and their wives: Shannon & Tracy, Tyler & Coral, Jared & Jillayne. She was predeceased by her Grandpa and Grandma Frank and Olga Reimer, and her Grandma Irene. They are enjoying her in Heaven now and we know that Grandma is covering her with kisses. Dana grew up in Landmark and got her education in the schools there. She was involved in absolutely everything there was. Sports, band, drama, choir, and still she managed to find time for special events, like getting caught smoking at the park in her first week of junior high. She did well in her studies and was chosen to be the valedictorian at her grad. That September, at the age of 18, she left for Austria to spend some time at Capernwray Bible School to get to know who Jesus is. And she did. She came back so focused and mature and often challenged us with questions we could not answer. Denis and her got into an argument about some Biblical thing, and Denis just told her he knew he was right because he had read it in the book of St. Denis. Dana was a smart girl, but had a lot of blond moments, and she fell for it. She went to U of M and got her degree in Physical Education. That decision was not an easy one for her. She didn’t know she would love her career as much as she did. As we watched her get more involved with kids at summer camps and coaching sports, we saw that she had such a special love and gift for kids In her last year of university she married the man that God had been saving for her. Kris and Dana were married on July 28, 2006, and what a party it was. They packed in a life time of memories in just under 6 years of married life. Thank you Poochie for loving our baby girl. They built their house in Niverville and it immediately became a warm home where everyone was welcome and royally entertained. . Her first teaching job was in Austria. After her school semester, Dana stayed with a family in Austria to work in their Bed and Breakfast, and to teach their two children English. They all fell in love with each other and we know they are grieving with us. Her first job with Hanover school division was at Steinbach Jr. High. She loved it there inspite of her not loving her Art class that much. But she hung in there and after 3 years she landed her dream job in Niverville collegiate, full time gym with Jr. high kids. She loved the fact that she could go to work in sweats and a tee-shirt. She was not sorry she had made the move to Niverville. Dana was looking forward to a relaxing summer but God had a better plan. After celebrating her 30th birthday with family at Falcon Lake, Dana Charlene Dueck went to celebrate with Jesus. Her smile only became even more beautiful as she rode her bike into Heaven on Sunday, July 8, 2012. Her time here is done. On her way to go mini golfing with some of the family, she looked back at us and said “Who says a girl can’t have everything?” And off she went. So, like Kris and Dana always said instead of good bye : SEE YOU IN A BIT DANA. The funeral will be held Friday, July 13, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Church, 190 PTH 52 W, Steinbach, MB with interment at Prairie Rose EMC Church, Landmark. Viewing will be on Thursday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 at Southland Church, and at the church prior to the viewing. Donations in memory of Dana may be made to Teen Challenge.
