Obituary of Gerhard (George) Buhler

Gerhard (George) Buhler, born December 29, 1939, passed away April 27, 2022, at Bethesda Regional Health Center, Steinbach, MB.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Margaret (Wieler), and five sons: Allan; Gerald and his children Jordan and Alexandria; Larry and Wendy, daughter Mercedes; Dwayne and Heather and their children Madeline and Hayden; and Myron, as well as foster children, Marie, Annalise, Alfred and Cindy. He is also survived by his brother Peter (Barb) and Margaret’s brothers and sisters, and their families.

He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

George was born to Abraham and Katherine Buhler of Grunthal, Manitoba. Dad grew up on the family farm south of Grunthal, where he lived until they moved to Steinbach five years ago. George married Margaret Wieler on August 25, 1963. George worked a few jobs and then worked at MeadowLands for over 20 years. He worked there as well as tended to the family farm.

George liked to go fishing with his buddies, visit his children at their cottages, and attend music events around the community. When he moved to town, he enjoyed biking and walking around town, along with having people over for coffee.

George was baptized at the Chortizer church and was actively involved in his church. He will be missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank the ambulance team and hospital staff that took care of him over the last week.

Viewing will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, from 7:00-9:00pm at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A livestreamed funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 11:00 am. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Interment will be at the Grunthal Cemetery following the service.
