Peacefully after many years of illnesses Jean Kehler passed away at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach on July 22, 2012 with her family at her bedside at the age of 84. Jean was predeceased by her husband Erdmund Kehler in 2003, her infant son Martin shortly after birth, her parents John and Ann Wiens and her youngest sister Margarita Laurel Violet. Jean is survived by her brother Cecil Wiebe (Rose) from Burnaby, BC, daughter Angelinda Ens, son Albert Kehler (Elfreide), grandchildren Michael Dueck (Laura), Corey Dueck (Candice) and Holly Reimer, great grandchildren Michelle, Amy, Kaylee, Coltin, Brittney, Isabella, Alexandra, Chloe, Noah and Dusten. Jean was active in the Mitchell CMC Church in Mitchell, MB, actively enjoying sewing for the ladies group for charity. Jean worked at Johnny’s Grill in Steinbach for a number of years, and then worked at Mcleod’s hardware store in Steinbach for 17 years that gave her great joy to serve customers, and ended her working years at the Mennonite Museum. Jean especially enjoyed it when her children and grandchildren would come to visit and serve them their favourite desserts; she loved baking. Viewing was held on Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Mitchell CMC. Burial to follow at the church cemetery followed by a light lunch at the church.
