Dean,
I miss you so much, I miss the days you would come in and chat with me when I was feeling down. I miss your stupid silly laugh and the awkward hugs. It's so hard to say good bye and I don't want to. My heart is so broken and I don't even know how to stop the pain. Why did you go? Why you? You are one of the most genuine friends I've ever had, you said it like it is and never beat around the bush. If I could bring you back I really would. You were such a great man and I hope you know how much you were loved and how much we miss you now. Please come and visit once in a while

For thirty-five years you were my older brother, best friend, mentor, confidant, & fellow “foodie”.
(I laughed at the pocket chicken comment, as I recall baked potatoes in your pockets!)
Intelligent, funny, open-minded, generous, dedicated, & curious don’t even begin to describe it.
Sure were loved & you sure are missed.

When I first met Dean, I wasn't impressed, he was the guy who brought broken stuff into the shop at McGillivray. Didn't take too long before we developed a relationship.... he was the guy who brought in broken stuff, I was the guy who fixed stuff. Sometimes he even brought in stuff he had broken! We developed respect for each other and from that time he was the Man. Definitely old school, he will be missed on the line crew.
I served with Dean on the LU435 board. He always contributed, had a common sense approach, and genuinely cared about his brothers and sisters in the local union. Big shoes to fill there also.
A little rough around the edges, maybe not always PG13, you had to be on your toes as his wit and humour was quick, sharp, and subtle all at the same time. Going to miss him!!!
My condolences to family and friends, we has suffered a large loss.
Don

Rode down to Sturgis with Dean and friends 97’ . He was quite proud of his first build. I had worked at MTS with Dean and recall his healthy appetite, seemed to have an endless supply of cooked chicken breasts in his pockets . Never a dull moment with his twisted sense of humour. Keep the shiny side up big guy.

Dean was a one in a million kind of guy, his heart was enormous and he would give the shirt off his back for absolutely anyone . The amount of knowledge that he taught so many at his long standing career at MTS will carry on forever. He was strong like a bull and had a heart of gold . His humour was off the charts and would do whatever it took to get a laugh out of you. He was loved by so many . When the news came to his work family it was unbelievable to comprehend. I want to send my deepest condolences to his family and friends . He will be truly missed beyond words . He was the type of person that would go above and beyond for his friends always . There will be a huge void left at MTS where he had spent 34 years of his working life . He was definitely a superstar cableman/lineman and passed on extensive knowledge to everyone he helped train. Words cannot explain how much you will be missed . May you soar with the angels above my brother ❤️ The work family plans to host a celebration of life to honour such a great man in the near future and everyone is welcomed to attend . If you wish to attend please leave a comment below so we don’t miss anyone wishing to do so . Thank you

I met Dean around 1995. I needed a renter for my basement suite and I think he was my first renter. While living there he married Tracy and we all became friends and even took a trip to Sturgis together on our Harleys together with some other people. It was an interesting trip, we spent a memorable night in Gettysburg (where the battle wasn't) on the way there. His rent was always on time, he was very reliable. I even let him take the Harleys into the basement, some people reading this may remember helping with that. If anyone remembers that trip to Sturgis and would like to share some stories here, I think it would be an interesting read. RIP Dean, I know you have left an empty spot in the lives of a lot of people.

Dennis, Lois, Michelle, Rob and McKenzie, I was so sad to hear of Dean’s passing. Dean possessed the family sense of humour. Back in earlier days you could count on him for anything. If he cared about you, he had your back. I will remember him the way I always have, with a big grin. I am so sorry.

I was shocked and in disbelief when I heard of Deans passing as he was just over for dinner the week before. I was fortunate enough to become good friends with him after I met him at work in the early nineties and rooming together in California and Seattle. He had an intimidating look but was a big teddy bear, he would always be there if you needed him and had a great sense of humour. Those who knew him had their lives enriched by him.
We are gonna miss you ya big monkey.
Love Brad, Yvonne and Cassandra

Someone already said “big guy, with the biggest heart”, I agree! I remember going to Greentree restaurant to eat breakfast with Dean. I would always get him to order first and then just say I will have what Dean is having.
So sad, I am going to miss him!
