Vera and I were school friends for many years. Even though I haven’t seen Vera for quite a few years, I still thought of her often. Rest In Peace my friend.

My very deepest sympathy to Vera's family. I knew Vera as a classmate, friend and her sister Olga was my aunt. The Ewankewich family was very much a part of my life growing up. She and some of her siblings all went to the same school and we lived on farms not to far apart. R.I.P. Vera.

One of my favourite memories of Auntie Vera is from way back in the early 90’s when visiting her and Uncle Bill at St Malo Beach. She coaxed me into the water to hunt for minnows and helped me get comfortable in the water. She made things fun! I also remember so many times being made to feel at home in their home and being heard and respected, even as a young child. Hospitality. It was something she was the best at. She was there for me and Mom in the deepest sadness I’ve ever known, when my Dad, her brother, passed away. She gave me sound advice when I graduated high school, started into the workforce, got married, and started a family of my own. Each step of the way she always said, “I’m still here! I love you because you’re you, kiddo! Keep up the good work!” I admire her for her dedication to Uncle Bill through sickness and in health, her tenacity and work ethic, her sense of humour, and her faith in her Saviour. Auntie Vera exemplified grace and dignity in her passing. I will forever love her and I will miss her until we meet again.
Romans 8:38-39 says: For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
