Obituary of Lionel Aime Gauthier

Predeceased by his parents Aimé and Lucie (Desautels), nephew Jérémie, his father-in-law Lucien Marion and mother-in-law Denise Marion, brothers-in-law; Olivier (Red) Marion and Marcel Marion.

Lionel was born on April 16th, 1957, in Pine Falls, MB, and moved to La Broquerie, MB, at the age of 5, where he lived the rest of his life.

Lionel had two passions in life; his family and his community.  Lionel was a very devoted husband, father, and an amazing Pépère.  A very caring, selfless and loving person, he always put others ahead of himself.

A dedicated member of his community, he was involved in many organizations including local sports, his parish and the municipality.

Lionel was a founding member of the La Broquerie Fire Dept. in 1978, and served for 27 years, the last 10 years as Fire Chief and Eastman Mutual Aid Coordinator.

His favourite place, was his seasonal site at Wild Oaks Campground, where he loved to sit on his deck and enjoy a morning coffee or a cold beer with his family and many friends he made throughout the years. It was his little oasis, his little paradise.

Our hearts are broken, and he will be forever missed by all.

He Only Takes the Best

God saw he was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around him,
And whispered "Come with me",
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away,
Although we love him dearly,
We could not make him stay,
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best,
Although his heart stopped beating,
His love will always remain,
His absence puts upon our hearts,
A very heavy strain,
For now he is in a place of everlasting rest,
We just have to understand that God,
He only takes the best.
