On the afternoon of Sunday, February 12, 2023, Eldon Stobbe entered the gates of heaven with his family by his side.

Eldon was born on Sept 3, 1936, in Boissevain, Manitoba,  and was the second youngest of  Peter and Augusta Stobbe in a family of 12 children.

He lived his childhood years in Mountainside, Manitoba and went to Maple Grove school in the Desford community.

Dad accepted the Lord in 1950 when he was 14 at Turtle Mountain Bible Camp.

He was baptized in 1954 in Derksens dam and joined the Boissevain MB Church.

In 1953, during his teen years, the family moved to the Boissevain community and built the family farm. In 1956 Eldon’s father passed away and at the young age of 19 took over the family farm.

He took note of Agnes Loewen from Brandon, Manitoba at a sangerfest numerous years before they actually dated. On July 8, 1961, they were married.

They were blessed with three children- one son and two daughters which completed their family.

Farm life was busy with livestock and grain farming but always had time for other things including family vacations, camping and canoeing, snowmobiling and horseback riding in Spruce Woods.

Eldon and Agnes were very involved in the Boissevain MB Church and served as a deacon couple for over a decade. Eldon also had a passion for being involved in Christian Service Brigade which he served in for years.

Eldon loved farming. Watching the crops grow and the calves run. He also was a huge supporter of the Canadian Food Grains Bank. He was the first in the Boissevain area to donate land for a grow project and was involved in this for 10 years.

After the busyness of fulltime farming, they spent several years semi-retired on the farm, designed and had their dream house built and moved into Boissevain in 2008 where they spent nine and a half years.

During this time, they enjoyed socializing as well taking the fifth wheel camping, visiting their kids and grandkids in their retirement years.

Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and cancer in 2017 and they decided to move closer to their family and made their new home at BridgePark Manor in Steinbach, Manitoba.

In spite of the health challenges, he was not one to complain and would say “it’s never too bad that it couldn’t be worse” and that God was always good.

Agnes and the family wish to thank Dr. Karen Toews as well as the caring nurses and staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB. Also, many thanks for the love and support from Pastor John Wiebe and the Bridgepark Manor family, numerous family and friends for the love and support given on our journey.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Agnes of 61 years, children Cliff Stobbe (Shirley), Elvina Bergmann (Rick), and Pat Fryer, six grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great-grandchildren.

Eldon was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings.
