I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Peters while growing up in Steinbach. Especially appreciated was her sense of humour and calm demeanour, no matter what mischief Jane and I created.
Going to Jane's house after school was always a culinary adventure, especially in baking. My favourite after school snack were the "soft white cookies" that appeared, more often around Hallowe'en. I still associate Halloween with Rose Peters and these cookies!!
Rose also took Jane and I to the Steinbach Golf Course for my first real golf game, where I really appreciated Rose's golfing tips and her humour as my balls went everywhere except where they were supposed to go!!
I would like to extend my condolences to Jane and Family at this time. Fortunately, there are many wonderful memories that will keep Rose alive for all of us!

There are so many fond memories of Mrs Peter’s…as she was known to me. Living close to her house on Hanover St in the 60’s I can visualize Mrs Peter’s waving vigorously as Jane , Linda and I would start our long walk to kindergarten…..Always calling out words of encouragement for the day. Her warm cheerful personality made me feel very welcome in her home but it was her chocolate cake and humour that kept me coming back . I saw her as the cool Mom… she could ski, ride a bike and golf! I will miss seeing her in the stores and reminiscing . What a great lady!
My condolences.to your family.

Rose was an absolute delight. Growing up I spent a lot of time at the Peters home. She loved to laugh and laugh. When Jane and I decided we should own a horse, we needed money. So a raffle was our solution. Rose typed all the tickets. Sadly no horse was purchased. But Rose was always there for her family, no matter how crazy the plans. I had a couple of visits with her recently, still laughing.

Your Mom added joy to my life. I enjoyed working with her at Economy Foods, and later appreciated her smile if I would bump into her randomly. Her love of life and people lives on in you, Jane (my other connection to your family). Condolences to you all. —Jolyn (Braun) Sawatzky

I have memories of your Mom, Jane, when you and I would play together in both your Hanover St home (I think this was a short term location?) as well as in your home on Ash Street. Your Mom was always so easy going and welcoming. Of course, there was always that special twinkle in her eyes. Later in life, I would sometimes encounter her on my walks around the city. She'd be riding her bicycle and we'd usually have a little chat. She was always looking forward to getting home and having her tomato sandwich for lunch. She could hardly wait! To this day, whenever I hear mention of a tomato sandwich, I think of her and the twinkle in her eye, with her anticipation for her daily treat. My condolences to you all in saying goodbye to this dear soul.

Haha! Heather. You nailed my mom. She really loved it when you came over. And she loved her tomato sandwiches - forgot that. Thank you!

Heather and Jane - this just brought a smile to my face as I remember playing together on Hanover Street as young children. What a delightful childhood we had. My deepest condolences to you, Jane as you celebrate your Mama...Erika (Wiens) Hildebrand (Morden)

Our condolences to the family! Rose was a friend of my Mother, long before we came to know her as “Taunte Rose”. A sweet lady, sense of humour, and always that smile! We remember her welcoming us, and the inclusion in the Barkman family gatherings.
Sincerely, Werner and Dorothy Braun

Heartfelt condolences to the family on the passing of your mother. I remember your mom as a spunky, fun lady with a beautiful deep voice who lived down our street. Many years ago, I babysat for her. It was my favourite place to babysit, and it was a special treat to listen to her gospel records after the kids were asleep. And, until quite recently it was an inspiration to see her biking around town, always with a smile and determination. A few months ago when I met her at Resthaven doing her crossword puzzles, I was so pleased that she recognized me and gave me a big smile, and said "Well, I'll be...it's Lotti!"
