Obituary of Donald Desrochers

Donald Desrochers passed away at 29 years old suddenly but peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Donald is remembered and loved by his daughter Kylah, his mother Jacqueline (Sven), his father Don, his stepfather Scott, his twin sister Alexandria (Kurt), his brother Zachary (Sara),  brother Noah, sister Emmalia, Memerre and Peperre Annette and Georges, Grandma Anna as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends.

From a young age Donald was fascinated with mastering everything he endeavored in. It began with video games on the PlayStation with his siblings, never letting them win. Donald became enamoured with guitar hero and quickly mastered every instrument available in the game. Then he transitioned to skateboarding and BMX; spending hours on the front street learning every trick he could think of. Eventually, his passion led him to the local skatepark, which would become his second home. Donald would spend every extra minute he had at the skatepark, impressing everyone who saw him and making countless friends. Donald would go on to compete in local BMX events and win many of them. Donald always had the bravery needed to attempt the most extreme tricks before everyone else. Donald was given the opportunity to travel across Canada and compete in BMX events alongside his friends, which was one of his fondest memories.

Donald loved to snowboard in the winter and brought his passion for pushing the limits to the slopes. His trip to Banff with his twin sister for their 18th birthday was an experience he often spoke of. As Donald got older, he became interested in motocross. Donald would travel with his family across the province to race in many events, and loved the rush of going fast. Any time Donald would see something with an engine you could not get him off of it. Riding a bike, whether motorized or not, is where Donald felt most free.

Donald always strived to make things easy for everyone else, often stating “I know what I’m doing” even when he didn’t. Donald was always there for his family and friends,  offering a lending hand no matter the request. Whether it was working, putting shingles on a roof, cutting grass, clearing snow, or helping someone move, Donald was always the hardest working man and never complained. Donald is remembered by his family and friends for his many amazing qualities. Donald was known for his humour, tenacity, work ethic, loyalty, big heart, and free spirit. Donald could light up any room with his presence. Whether people were laughing with him or at him, Donald didn’t care as long as you had a smile on your face

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB.
