Obituary of Delores Tourond

Delores Hazel Tourond, of Steinbach, MB., passed away Saturday, April 1st, 2023, at her residence in Rest Haven Care Home, Steinbach, MB, at the age of 75 years old, with her precious daughter Lisa Plett by her side.

Delores is survived by daughters: Lisa (Maynard), Jennifer, and grandchildren: Kelly (Patrick), Riley, Brie, and Crosby. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded by her loving husband George, her sister Donna La Rouche, and her mother Marie. 

Delores was born January 11, 1948, and grew up in Digby, Nova Scotia, with her brother (Darrell) and sister (Donna). She loved helping her father on the farm and working the fields, or anything to do with being outdoors. She enjoyed going to her grandmothers and taking care of her.

She then took on a new adventure and moved to Manitoba, where she worked as a health care aide and housekeeper. Delores married and had two beautiful daughters, whom she cherished. She worked hard to provide for her family and always had an open door, open heart, and would chat your ear off.

Delores later married George Tourond, her second husband, and they spent 34 years together. They enjoyed playing cards, socializing, and travelling to BC and Ontario.

She loved spending time in the country, sitting around a bonfire and listening to music with her family.

Delores was a devoted Christian and enjoyed spending time in fellowship and hymn singing (even though she says she is not a good singer).

She cherished her grandchildren and treasured time spent with them. She enjoyed walking and taking her grandchildren to the park or making the best grilled cheese sandwiches.

The family would like to thank Rest Haven Care Home for their exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Delores’ name to Southern Health-Santé Sud (in cheque memo line: CancerCare Steinbach), and mailed to Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0.

A public service will be held on Thursday, April 6^th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with viewing 30 minutes prior to the service.
