Obituary of Elizabeth Reimer

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, Elizabeth Reimer peacefully passed away at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, MB.

She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Elizabeth was blessed with 96 years of life. She was predeceased by her eight siblings: Abram, Marie, Peter, Greta, Anna, Heinrich, Johnny, and Esther.

Her compassion and servant heart were evident in many ways throughout her life. She helped care for her ailing father who was wheelchair bound for many years. She cared for children in Montreal Lake Children’s Home, for patients in Vita Hospital, Altona Hospital, and Rest Haven Care Home.

Her heart expanded to opening her home to two foster girls from the Kindale Centre.

Her compassion was limitless for concern for two special nieces. Elizabeth’s first remark was an inquiry of family or friends who might be struggling. Her prayer and concern will be missed and cherished by the nieces and nephews.

Those around Elizabeth would enjoy her crackling laughter with her sister. Always a puzzle on her table.

In Elizabeth’s own words, she asked that the only thing she wanted mentioned at the funeral was Jesus. Her faith to Him was evident through baptism. One niece remembers evening devotions while waiting for sleepover. Her worn Bible beside her recliner. Her heart’s desire was to meet Jesus.

We rejoice with her.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with interment to follow at the Blumenort Community Church Cemetery, Blumenort, MB.
