Obituary of Denis Laurencelle

It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Denis Laurencelle on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the age of 53.

He leaves to mourn the love of his life, Danielle (née Lambert), daughters Mireille, (Kent) Wipf, Christiane (Kieran McDougall), son Pierre and grandsons Adamus, Kingston and baby on the way.

Also left to mourn are his brothers in arms, Pierre Beaudry, Steve Thomas and Jason Lotz.

He will be fondly remembered and missed by his mother Jocelyne (Bob Hughes), brother Réal and sisters Diane (Jason) Lotz, Joane (Mike) Decuypere and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also left to mourn are his mother in-law, Jacqueline (Gordon Cockburn) and sister in-law Florence (Marc) Lessard.

He is predeceased by his father Pierre Laurencelle, father in-law, Robert Lambert and sister in-law, Wendy Laurencelle

Denis married his high school sweetheart on July 8th, 1995, and they raised two daughters, Mireille and Christiane and their son Pierre in Lorette. Papa was a real provider for his family. He was the proud owner of Southeast Small Engine (S.E.S.E.) in Lorette from 2000-2020.

He took care of us by working hard and always doing what needed to get done without hesitation. Papa loved to cook for us, maintain the vehicles and you can be sure that if anything ever broke down, papa not only fixed it but improved it. He could always come up with a practical solution to everyday problems. He was efficient in everything he did and that’s how he raised us to be.

Maman was the one true love of papa’s life. Everything maman accomplished, Papa thought was amazing and admirable. From her skills as a teacher to her garden and her cooking.

Papa loved his three kids, Mireille, Christiane and Pierre. He always taught us to love and chase after God and the truth. Papa was very proud of all his kids. As we got older, we loved the deep, one on one conversations we had with him.

In 2020 papa became a proud pépère. He loved Adamus and Kingston with a love we had never seen before. His sons-in-law Kent and Kieran were also deeply loved. He took them under his wing, always ready to give wisdom and encouragement.

Papa always loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing pool, sitting around the woodstove, hanging out at the gazebo, hunting and having bonfires in Elma and at home.

As he got older, he began to enjoy the simpler things in life such as setting up lawn chairs to enjoy the garden or watch the chickens. Scrabble and crocket also became activities that he enjoyed playing.

Looking ahead at the future is hard for us now as we grieve all the milestones and accomplishments that we won’t be able to share with him. Despite this we know that Papa would want us to move forward and enjoy our lives to the fullest. In due time we’ll find joy again but for now we grieve the loss of our dearly loved husband, papa, pépère and friend.
