Obituary of Anne Dueck

Anne Dueck, our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, was born to Jacob F. and Maria Goossen on April 7, 1933, at Morris, MB. She peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the Maplewood Manor in Steinbach, MB.

Mom gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ on December 31, 1947. She loved the Lord, people, and was generous and kind to everyone. Mom had a great sense of humour, and our friends often talked about it. In her early 20’s, mom travelled to Winnipeg by train, to work at the King George Hospital during the polio epidemic, showing her compassion for those in need.

On July 25, 1957, she was joined in marriage to Jake Dueck and moved to the farm near Ste. Anne. They enjoyed 65 years together and were blessed with eight children. Mom often sang as she went about her duties: gardening, canning, making meals, washing dishes, and sewing quilts until she went to the Manor a year ago. She enjoyed travelling to visit her children.

After Dad’s passing, Mom was very lonely. She looked forward to friends and family coming and always lit up when someone walked in the door.

She leaves to mourn her children, Ron and Janice, Lavonne, Warren and Lorrie, Russ, Lana and Rick, Brian and Lydia, Sherri and Matt, Ken and Leudy, 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Victor Goossen and Percy Goossen, and one sister Ella and Gladwin Penner, sisters-in-law Norma Dueck, Anna Nightengale and Edda Nightengale.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Jake, parents, siblings Irvy, Bertha, Elmer, Rose and Luana.

A public viewing for Anne Dueck will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. with devotional to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba. 

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Rosewood Church of God in Christ, 32143 Pr 210, Ste. Anne, MB. with viewing prior to the service. To join the family via audio, click HERE .
