Obituary of Aaron Dueck Reimer

Our father, Aaron Dueck Reimer, was born on October 15, 1925, on the family farm in Twin Creek, Manitoba. After fighting cancer, he passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife Sara of 55 years, 2 daughters; Arlene (Gary Monkman), Sharilyn (Reade Johnson); 2 sons, Ken (Geralyn), Bryan (Karen); and 1 son-in-law, David Reimer (Karen). As well, he is survived by 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by 1 daughter, Lorena, his parents and many siblings. Dad was born the eighth of ten children. He was baptized in 1948 by Bishop Peter P. Reimer and became a member of the Kleine Gemeinde church. Dad married Sara Janzen on October 21, 1951. Dad’s faith was central to his life, and he desired to nurture this faith in others. He also served his community and church in various ways. Dad offered his services as the Twin Creek Sunday School Superintendent, school trustee for the Twin Creek School District, as well as sitting on a variety of church committees. In later years, he ministered with The Singing Grampas. Although diagnosed with cancer in 2001, Dad was able to enjoy relative health. For several years his cancer was under control. On April 4, 2007, Dad died, just steps away from where he had been born. The family is very grateful for the support given by the caring community that has surrounded them in the past months. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 MacKenzie, Steinbach. Burial will take place prior to the service.
