Obituary of John Block

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother John. The fourth of nine children, John was born on October 12, 1949, to Peter and Helen Block of Grunthal, MB. On Thursday, October 12, 2023, he passed away peacefully with family at his side at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was 74.

John lived most of his life in Grunthal, MB., having worked at Kindale (enVision) in Steinbach for over 50 years earning numerous awards for his achievements.

John was predeceased by his father (Peter), mother (Helen), two brothers in infancy (Ronald and Gary), and sister-in-law (Diane).

He is survived by six siblings: Peter, Elvin, James (Laurel), Betty (Peter), Edward, Mariann (Joe), girlfriend (Irene) and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Grunthal Menno Home for their excellent care they gave John over the years and appreciates all the prayers and support from friends and family and takes comfort knowing he is now at peace.

The funeral service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Elim Mennonite Church, Grunthal, MB., 30 Main Street, Grunthal, MB., followed by a reception. A viewing will be held prior to the service. To join the family via livestream please click the following link.
