Obituary of Ben Lazaruk

Ben passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Selkirk Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the age of 82. 

He will be greatly missed by his children Mark (Janice), Dean (Debbie), and Lisa (Len), his grandchildren Joshua (Alison), Tamara (Tyson), Jared (Anna), Sarah (Kaanon), Emily and Hannah and his great-grandchildren Aubrie and Evie. He also leaves behind his brothers Tony, Leonard and his sister Grace. 

He was predeceased by his wife Annette, his sister Iris, and brother-in-law Bob.

Dad was born June 4, 1941 on the family farm in Caliento, MB. He was the oldest of five children. He left the farm in his late teens to work in Winnipeg. This is where he met his wife Annette. They were married on October 5, 1963.

In 1971, Mom and Dad moved from their home in Transcona back to the family farm and settled there to raise their family. As years passed, they took great pleasure in having the kids and their families come out to the farm, even just to sit around the kitchen table for good food and fellowship.

Dad was very passionate about his grandchildren. He loved to spend time with them and as the grandchildren became older, he took the time to stay connected.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 10:30 am. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
