Obituary of Helen Friesen

Helen Friesen, age 88, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, Manitoba.

She is survived by her beloved children Ray (Myrna), Brian (Mariann), Jerry (Joan), Cheryl (Earl), her beloved grandchildren Cara (Ken), Andrea (Greg), Kali (Rob), Jared (Corliss), Nancy (John), Robert (April), Janel, Bruce (Jessica), Laura (Nick), and her beloved great-grandchildren Teresa, Frances, Margaret, Olive, Wyatt, Cambree, Eva, Rhyah, Gus, Bowen, Adelyn, as well as her two sisters and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband Pete, parents, one brother, one sister, parents-in-law, one daughter-in-law and numerous in-laws.

Mom and Dad were married August 9, 1953, and were happily married until Dad’s passing October 21, 2008. Mom and Dad were partners in life and in business. This did not leave her much time to pursue other interests. She did enjoy cooking for her family, baking, tending to her flowers and reading. For a number of years after the business was sold, she continued to offer her knowledge and support to the new owners. In her later years she filled her days with coffee or lunch out with friends, Bible study and was always delighted when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would stop by to spend time.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba, with a public viewing one hour prior.
