Obituary of Frank Waldon Penner

Frank Waldon Penner was born October 16, 1927 to Aron M. And Maria (Goossen) Penner at Ste. Anne, Manitoba. He slipped away peacefully on August 30, 2012 at Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB, nearly reaching his 85th birthday. Waldon was baptized in Greenland, MB on December 20, 1942 by Minister Ervin Harms. The faith was precious to him and he embraced it to the end. On September 23, 1951 he married Mildred Wohlgemuth, sharing 60 loving years. God blessed their home with two sons and five daughters. Ordained to the gospel ministry in 1969, Dad loved God’s Church and people, serving to the best of his ability. Dad grew up on the family farm enjoying nature and the outdoors. This was reflected in all his years of farming. Our family enjoyed many outings and picnics. Mom and Dad lived in Greenland, MB, Cartwright, MB, Edberg, Alberta; spending their retirement years in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. We as a family appreciate the loving care Dad received at the Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, MB during his last six months. Dad was punctual and a man of his word. Bible reading and family worship were very important. He was a lover of song, encouraging us to sing. We appreciate the values Dad taught us. Surviving Dad is our Mom, his beloved wife Mildred; their children Ethelyn and Charles Friesen of Eden, MB; James and Phyllis Penner of New Norway, Alberta; Darlene and Ken Isaac of Vanderhoof, British Columbia; Elaine Friesen of Aylesford, Nova Scotia; Dwane Friesen of Creston, British Columbia; Kelly and Twila Penner of Aylesford, Nova Scotia; Shirley and Milferd Unruh of Dewberry, Alberta; Audrey and Abram Penner of Green Valley, Ontario; 31 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; as well as brother Abe and Carrie Penner of Cartwright, MB; sisters: Nellie Toews of Steinbach, MB; Evelyn Fricke of Grafton, North Dakota; and sisters-in-law Agnes Penner of Steinbach, MB and Pauline Penner, Blumenort, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, seven sisters and one granddaughter. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, September 2 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, 280 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.
