Obituary of Helen May Eden

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, Helen May Eden, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the age of 81 years.  But it is with Joy we can say she is at peace without anymore pain. We can rejoice in the knowledge she is celebrating with a brand-new perfect body, surrounded by loved ones who have gone before and all the Heavenly Angels.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Leanne/Tony Graft, Chris/Lauralee Eden. Nine grandchildren: Michael, Danielle, Jennifer/Rene, Tanner/Leianah, and Brayden. Patrick/Alix, Shane/Aurora, Hailey, Riley and Ty.  Eight great-grandchildren: Anna, Raya, Toni and Owen. Liam, Niko, Abel and Jaxson.  Sister-in-law Mary Lou and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents: Alex and Florence Mahood, brother and sister-in-law Eric and Roberta Mahood, sister and brother in law Joan and Art Richardson.

Helen was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood. Helen loved to spend time on the lake and fish with her father.  She was a very hard working and dedicated person. She started working full time at the age of 16 at Winnipeg Grain Exchange and was a secretary for most of her working career but she did spend some time working as a bailiff, which in the 1980’s wasn’t common.  She slowed down a little later on in life and worked for Walmart until her retirement in 2007.

She enjoyed retirement spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was also a big fan of bingo at The Eagles Club and going to Club Regent Casino with Simone Pelletier, her faithful friend of 52 years. Helen almost always had pets for companionship and loved them all dearly.

She will be lovingly missed and always remembered,

Lots of Love, Gram.

At her request there will be no service. Family will gather to celebrate her at a later date.
