Sincere condolences to Elsie and Jeff and the entire Smook Family.
How our friendship started I can not recall. What I do know is that Larry was a very good friend over the many years that I have know him. With Larry it was always a good time. Whether driving vehicles, helping at the farm, curling, or simply having a drink
together.
Rest in Peace Larry

Love, Strength and hugs to Elise, Jeff and Mildred, the entire Smook Family. Larry will always be remembered in our hearts, he was a friend and mentor to Roman in so many ways and then for our family when Roman was called home. Larry’s generosity and kindness was never something he talked about, he just did. A quiet man that just “did what needed to be done”, thank you for sharing him with us all. He will live in your heart forever, he carries a piece with him that will put back when you meet again. He will be remembered with respect and love in ours.

I would like to take this time to send my sincere condolences out to the family.
I work for Larry in the mid to late 80's as a auto body technician. He was a stern but fair boss and when the body shop wasn't busy I went to car auctions with Larry and helped breifly on the farm.
One morning we were getting ready to take a couple of cars to the auction and Larry told me to bring one of the cars to the pumps and put in a couple of bucks of fuel, so I did, but this car wasn't running right as I brought it to the gas pumps. The sound was getting worse and went to go tell Larry. Well, when we came back outside the car was on fire by the gas pumps moved quickly to get it the heck out of there. That was an interesting morning for both of us.

Deepest condolences to Mrs. Smook, Jeff, and the other dearest family members and friends of this incredible man. From my Mom Leona Ewankewich, deepest sympathy and many great memories of a neighbour and friend. My Dad, Eddy Ewankewich, admired and respected Mr. Smook very much because he was a hard working, genuine, honest man. An example of a man. Dad and Mom were thankful to have him as a farming neighbour, employer, encourager, and friend. God bless the wonderful memories and may He continue to hold the family up in this time of grief.
Much love,
Larissa Goertzen and family

Our sincere sympathy goes out to the Smook Family on the the passing of Larry! Ken has fond memories of playing hockey with Larry back in the late 70’s and 80’s. We lived in one of the houses Larry built and were very happy there for over 40 years. We bought several vehicles from Larry and always felt we got a fair deal. As a matter of fact, we still drive a 2004 Silverado he sold us in 2012! Larry was a man of integrity and will be missed! Rest in Peace, Larry!

I was so shocked to hear of Larry's passing. We were close neighbours in Vita growing up. Although Larry was a few years older than me he was always very nice and kind to all of us younger kids hanging around. I have very fond memories of Larry and all the Smook boys. My sincerest condolences to the Smook family. May all your wonderful memories of Larry give you comfort at this difficult time. Gloria Dowhy Slobodzian and family

I'll never forget that bank robbery and Larry's help driving me in his 4X4 and locating the stolen p/u north of Vita. He wanted to pull right up behind the truck and I had to scream at him to hold back until I could establish that there were no occupants hiding in the truck or behind it! I enjoyed many hockey games against the Vita team that Larry was part of. I last spoke with him exactly 3 years ago on the 11th of December 2020 and had been meaning to call him again. RIP good friend. Dave Brisbin, Elora, Ontario.

I was born 7 days after Larry and we grew up playing at the old vita sawmill and the one I remember most when we were kids is his love of my moms homemade donuts. he couldn't seem to get enough. He is safe min the arms of our lord and extend my my most heartfelt sympathies to his family, extended family and all the people he knew and shared part of his life with. if there is an afterlife ,I would remiss in saying I'd love to sit and chat with him about our lives as we went in different directions. Vichniya pamiet. until we meet over younder Larry.
