Evelyn was a mentor to me without realizing it. In my early 30’s we attended WOL church where she was a member. I was passionate about starting ministries and Pastor Tass at the time advised me to recruit a team around me.I sensed we needed a single moms ministry and knew we needed some older experienced godly women to help mentor and lead them. This is where I met the lovely Evelyn and Mary Dyck and the rest is history. Evelyn’s challenges of life and her resilience encouraged many. She was one of the pillars in this ministry and many were blessed. I know she is celebrating with Jesus and experiencing the rewards she will receive. Thank you Evelyn for being a godly example to me as I learned how to lead with love and compassion. You lived it well. My condolences to Jim, Deb and Dorothy. She loved you all so much.

My sister Sharon was Evelyn’s meal table partner and their rooms were next to each other for many years.
I hope they are chatting away together in heaven, I will miss seeing Evelyn.

What a biography! And the apple does not fall from the tree as I admire the work Dorothy is doing as well. I met Mrs. Gerbrandt in Thailand during a few of her visits there as I was teaching with the mission Dorothy was serving with. All good memories!

Wow! Special memories of her as my teacher in 1978-1979. As a new kid in school, she could speak to me in my native language and she made comig to school each day a little easier.

Mrs Gerbrandt was my grade 3 teacher. I will always remember her as the teacher who taught us hymns. We would often sing hymns after lunch. This is where I learnt most of the hymns that I know today...it was a highlight of my grade 3 year. My condolences to the family.

I always knew Aunt Evelyn to be a very caring person, interested in the welfare of others, able to make one feel significant and special. I certainly experienced her interest and kindness and enjoyed any and all visits and interactions with her. She was a blessing and a courageous example as she dealt positively with difficult situations. She has always been and will always be family to me!
Love and sympathy for the loss of your mother,
Karen (Gerbrandt) Funk-Critendon

Mrs. Gerbrandt was my Kindergarten teacher. To this day (I'm 60) I remember her fondly. I continued to live in Niverville, and whenever I would bump into your mom around town, she would be so warm and friendly and she would remember me! I went on to become a Kindergarten teacher myself. My condolences to your family.
