Obituary of Heather Shirley Fehr

Heather Shirley Fehr, age 60, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, MB, with her husband John, family and friends by her side. This comes after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and cancer.

Heather is survived by her loving husband John, one brother, Grenville (Marissa & family), one sister-in-law Anne Marie (Gary Reimer & family), sisters-in-law Helen Kehler & family, Mary (John Stahn & family), Kathy Fehr, Hilda (Jacky Cardot & family), brother -in-law Neil (MaryAnn & family). She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is predeceased by her parents Ken & Isabel Mowat, her brother Adrian, her parents-in-law Cornelius & Anne Fehr, her brother-in-law George Kehler, and many beloved family.

Heather was born in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. The family immigrated to Canada when she was an infant. She grew up in Kleefeld. She met John over the CB radio. They fell in love and were married September 27, 1980, making their home in Mitchell, later moving to Steinbach.

Heather was a wonderful seamstress, working at the sewing factory till they closed their doors. She fixed many zippers for family and friends. Later she joined John on the truck, driving for Penner International.

After the passing of her father, her mom came to live with them. This brought much joy to Heather. She also had a love of animals that started at a young age with her pet raccoon and Shetland pony. Over the years many dogs and cats found their home with her. Heather also enjoyed gardening. Many of us were recipients of her canned goods. She enjoyed horseback riding, Bingo, Coronation Street, Abba and Friends.

We are so grateful for the Bethesda Place staff for their care of Heather. You have made this difficult time much easier for Heather & John and family.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Heather may be made to  Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
