Obituary of Peter Reimer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Reimer on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Born on March 12, 1940, in St. Francis Xavier, MB., Peter was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. With family by his side, he passed away peacefully at Ste. Anne Hospital.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Donald (Rachelle), Bonnie (Richard), Diana (Dan) and nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, many in-laws, several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife Susan.

On January 20, 1962, Peter married the love of his life, Susan. He was a humble and hardworking man, taking on various jobs until, at the age of 29, he purchased the family farm near Vita, MB. Moving his family from Winnipeg, and despite the physical demands Peter dedicated himself to building their family home and farming the land until 2015.

Upon retiring and selling the farm, Peter and Susan moved to Steinbach, MB. He stood steadfastly by Susan's side during her battle with cancer, and after her passing, he cherished her memory every day. Peter continued to live independently in Steinbach, making regular trips to Winnipeg to share Sunday suppers with his son Donald, daughter-in-law Rachelle and his grandchildren.

Peter often reminded his family how fortunate he felt to have had Susan in his life, and now they are reunited. We remember him for his unwavering dedication, love, and the simplicity with which he approached life. He will be deeply missed.

We thank the amazing staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital, Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, and Ste. Anne Hospital.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, May 30^th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., followed by a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The family invites friends and loved ones to share in a celebration of Peter's life, reflecting on the man he was. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 31^st, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing prior to the service. The interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
