Obituary of Marie Zacharias

Marie Zacharias (nee Peters), at the age of 89, walked into heaven, with family at her side on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Born on May 27, 1935, in Greenridge, Manitoba, Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are husband of 60 years, John, four children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Cheryl & Dwayne, Randy & Laura (Dylan & Kyla, Brett & Alyssa, Stefanie), Ralph & Lori (Caleb, Nyah & Lucas and son Greyson), and Garth & Rose Anne (Tywanna, Lucas, Paige, Lincoln), siblings and in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius & Maria Peters, and parents-in-law, Abram & Sarah Zacharias.

We want to express a huge thank you to the amazing staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital who provided such tender care for Marie in her final days. The family also wishes to thank the Kidney Clinic staff at Seven Oaks Hospital.

The family invites friends and loved ones to share in a celebration of Marie’s life, reflecting on who she was. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Niverville Community Fellowship in Niverville, Manitoba. A private interment will take place prior to the service at Hespeler Cemetery in Niverville, Manitoba.

Donations in memory of Marie may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, or to Union Gospel Mission.
