Obituary of David Reimer

David Reimer, of Matheson, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the age of 53.

He is survived by his mother Elisabeth Reimer of Altona, Manitoba, and five siblings- Diedrich of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Justina Brundige of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Klaas (Audrey) of Foxworth, Mississippi, Helen Rock (Ron) of Ripley, Ontario, and Betty Basa of Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Father and grandfather of Tina, Laura, Elmer and Jonathan and two grandchildren.  He is remembered by three nieces and seven nephews. 

David was predeceased by his father Edwin Reimer.

David was born in Belize on December 6, 1970, to Edwin and Elisabeth Reimer.  In September 1975 the family moved to Interlake, Manitoba, Canada.  There David attended school at Lake Center School and Interlake Mennonite Fellowship School.  He was baptized at Interlake Mennonite Fellowship Church.  In his teens he helped Dad with the bee farm and had various other jobs, one of which was gathering eggs at a turkey farm. 

In 1994, he married Helena Harder, and they had four children.  In 1996 they moved to Ontario where he worked in a hockey stick factory.  In the summer of 1998 they moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and in the fall of 1998 and David and Helena separated.  David worked at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, Manitoba for a couple of years.   He moved back to Ontario where he worked various jobs, mostly driving truck, as well as taxi for Old Order Mennonites until his passing.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Home, 20 Wellington Street South, Drayton, ON.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing one hour prior to the service. To join the family via livestream, please click HERE shortly before the service. 

The interment will take place at Blumenort Community Church Cemetery, Blumenort, MB.
