Obituary of Jacob D. Hiebert

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 Jac Hiebert was born September 29, 1926 to Jacob H and Maria Hiebert, on their farm in the Prefontaine School District six miles north-east of Niverville. This is where he grew up and got his education – also learning to work hard in the agriculture which this provided. He was “born again” into the family of God in 1970. His life took on completely new meaning. He became a strong, vibrant Christian. Olds things passed away, behold all things became new. He became a strong spiritual leader to our family and also had a burden for all lost souls – first of all for our family, that everyone would become followers of Jesus Christ. He was always ready to share his faith with whoever would listen. It also led him to become involved in various international mission outreaches, travelling to Jamaica, Haiti, Mali, Italy and Ecuador, on short term building ministries/projects. In 1946 he met his future wife, Sarah (Sally) Klippenstein, whom he married on September 29, 1949 and with whom he also shared joys and sorrows for the next 58 years. God blessed this union with 13 children – 7 sons and six daughters. Jac leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife Sarah, sons Jim (Marlene), Gerald (Diane), Pete (Roxanne), Dave, Stephen (who passed away November 20, 1976), Jake (Tilly) and John (Dana); daughters Sue (Ed) Giesbrecht, Eva (Michael) Glinz, Margaret Hiebert, Lillian (Albert) Elsaadi, Phyllis (Dennis) Schneider, and Jennifer (John) Dyck; 38 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Kehler and Agnes (Cornelius) Harder, one brother, Brad Hiebert. Jac suffered a stroke on December 14, 2003, which greatly limited his abilities. His health deteriorated, especially during the last year. The last month he was hospitalized. He fell asleep in Jesus on November 17, 2007 at 1:35 a.m. at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB. Viewing will be held Tuesday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church, 233 3rd St. S., Niverville The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church with interment at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville, MB “But we do no want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope.” I Thessalonians 4:13 If friends so desire donations may be made to HCJB Radio Ministry, Quito, Equador, available at the church.
