Obituary of Angeline Rose Laferriere

ANGELINE ROSE LAFERRIERE (nee Swirski) Surrounded by the love of her family, Angie passed into eternal peace on December 1, 2007, at Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach. Angie was born on May 5, 1943, to Blanche and Joseph Swirski. She was raised on the family farm in Matlock, MB. After completing high school, she attended Success Business College in Winnipeg. She began her employment in 1962with Walsh Micay & Co, Winnipeg, and culminated her career in 2007 at the Jake Epp Library, Steinbach. Angie especially enjoyed her involvement with the Treble Teens Choir and Steinbach Minor Hockey. In 1963, she met Louis, and on September 25, 1965 they were married in “Our Lady of the Lake Church” at Winnipeg Beach, MB. They resided in Winnipeg and were blessed with the arrival of daughter Suzanne Tanis in 1966, and son Mark Charles in 1969. They lived in Brandon for three years before moving to Steinbach in 1975. Angie and Lou owned and operated a family business at “Caddy Lake Resort: in Whiteshell Provincial Park from 1984 to 1991. Angie’s interests included sewing, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, reading and traveling. She was also devoted to her faith and to “Christ Our Saviour Church”. Angie and Lou enjoyed many summers camping with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are Lou, her husband of 42 years; her daughter Tanis & Roberto Villa, grandson Marco, of Montreal, QC; son Mark & Betty, grandchildren Emma and Marcel of Mitchell; parents Joseph and Blanche Swirski of Gimli; brother Glen & Joan of Sherwood Park, AB; mother-in-law Adele Laferriere of Rapid City; brother-in-law Claude & Gail of Minnedosa; sisters-in-law Joyce Lewis & Wayne of Oliver, B.C.; and Mavis Stewart & Jim of Brandon. Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will have fond memories of Angie. Angie was predeceased by an infant brother, and dear father-in-law Fernand Laferriere. The family would like to thank the church and library ladies, as well as many other relatives, friends and neighbours who visited and helped care for Angie during her illness and stay in the hospital. A special thank you to Lou’s sister, Mavis. Your prayers, kind words, tremendous support and outpouring of affection were great comfort to Angie and her family. A special thank you to Dr. C. Krahn, the compassionate and caring staff of Bethesda Hospital and Cancer Care Manitoba. A celebration of Angie’s life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Christ Our Saviour Church, 365 Loewen Blvd, Steinbach, with Father Leo Couture officiating. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will follow at Heritage Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers: Joanne Bobrowich, Emilie Funk, Sally Giesbrecht, Kim Gwozdz, Ruby Hildebrand, Marlene Smith and Gayle Swirski. Honorary pallbearers are Jake Epp Library Staff. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a time of sharing at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Angie’s memory may be made to SERHA- Bethesda Foundation, Box 939, Steinbach, MB R5G 1A3; or Christ our Saviour Church, Box 3118, Steinbach, MB R5G 1P4
