Obituary of Robert Wardell

Peacefully after a short battle with Cancer, with his eldest daughter and cousin at his side, passed away on February 1st, 2011 Robert is lovingly remembered by his daughter Juanita, son-in-law Curt, daughter Belinda, son-in-law Chris, daughter Roberta and, son-in-law Adrian; grandchildren Julia, Kole, Kaesy, Devin, Dawson, Lauren, Ireland, Allanah, Gemma, Autumn, Jade and Daniel. His brother Gary, sister-in-law Janice, nieces and nephews, close cousins, Bev and Pat and Don, Sherron and Johnny remember him fondly. He will be dearly missed by all of his family in Germany and his close friends in the Philippines; as well as his local friends, relatives, especially his close friends from The Winnipeg Senior Citizens Radio Club and the Coffee Gang from his favorite Robins. Special thanks to Jim for all of his support during Dad's short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Albert; mother Maude; eldest brother Alvin and sister Shirley. Robert Allen Wardell was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on the 23rd of February 1943. He joined the army the 18th of October 1961. He was sent to Borden, Ontario for his training as a military police (Canadian Provost Corps) school. His first transfer was Fredericton, NB; followed by Gagetown, NB; Germany in 1965; Holberg, BC in 1969; Shilo MB; Petawawa, ON; Calgary, AB; Comox, BC and Winnipeg, MB Bob did three six-month tours with the United Nations military police in the country of Cyprus. His last tour was with the United Nations Special Investigations Unit in Nicosia, Cyprus. While in Comox, BC Bob was sent to Ontario on a Criminal Investigators Course. Upon passing he was transferred to the Special Investigations Unit of Winnipeg , MB. Here he spent the remainder of his career. A total of 30 years service. After retiring from the Military, he worked for 10 years for Vital Transit and was a valued employee. He will be missed for his joyfulness, and his gentle humour. His love of his grandchildren will be forever remembered in the hearts of his children. We love you Dad. Thanks for the things you taught us, and the good memories. A Remembrance to Honor Dad's life will be held Wednesday, February 9th, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with a public viewing at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Springs Church, 595 Lagimodiere Blvd, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, Dad would prefer donations to his grandson's Chinese Orphanage. This opportunity will be made available at the service. The family would like to thank the professional and compassionate staff on floor 3 at the Grace Hospital. The care you showed Dad will be forever remembered.
