Obituary of Helen Novak

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Novak announces her sudden passing on December 25, Christmas Day, at her residence in Sarto, MB at the age of 80 years. Mom leaves to mourn her passing her children Irene (Walter) Yarema, Dennis (Steffie), Norman (Adine) and Roger; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister Ludwina Rasmussen. She was predeceased by her husband Jake (August 24, 1990), her six brothers, 2 sisters and her parents Mary and Julius Lischynski. Mom took great pride in her yard work, flowers and her cooking. She loved to go shopping every chance she got and loved to be amongst people. She also enjoyed helping the ladies with cooking at Sarto Hall and at the church. She was a very dedicated member of the church. She was a sister for many years and had just retired from her duties this year in December. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. She was very fortunate not to be ill throughout her life. Mom really enjoyed her 80th birthday party on September 16, 2007 where about 80 guests attended her celebration. Prayers will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. with viewing at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sarto on Saturday, December 29 at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Father Douglas LeClaire and Deacon Leon Twerdun. Interment to follow in the parish Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service are: Les Yarema, Brian Novak, Carl Lischynski, Bill Marynowski, Rob Mydaniuk, Brad Froese. Donations may be made in honor of Mom to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church – Women’s Auxiliary. “We were very fortunate to have you around for advice and guidance. We will miss you every day.” Vichnaya Pamyat
