Obituary of Margaret Kreutzer

Margaret (Laing) Kreutzer was born in Clearspings, MB, on May 25, 1917. She died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Roseville, MN. She married Ronald Kreutzer on Nov. 9, 1940. They lived in Steinbach, MB until 1971 when they moved to Brainerd, MN. They began spending their winter months in Edinburg, Texas in 1986. Margaret continued to enjoy winters in Texas and summers in Brainerd after Ron died in 1990. She maintained her ties with the community of Steinbach where Ron and Margaret had many friends and relatives. This included two visits to Steinbach as recently as the summer and fall of 2007. Margaret was well known for her flower gardens in Steinbach, Brainerd and Texas. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren received gifts of her quilts over the years. People, far and wide, appreciated her words of encouragement expressed by phone or in cards and her gift of hospitality wherever she was living. She was preceded in death by her parents; William and Mary Laing, and her husband; Ronald. She is survived by her children; Dorothy (Jim) Nelson, Earl (Mariam) Kreutzer and Mabel (Elvin) Schmitke, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, sisters; Jenny Sproule, Isabelle Boal and Phyliis Ireland and brother; Ed Laing. Funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 1, 1:00 p.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St. Steinbach, MB. Interment at Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Roseville Memorial Chapel, Roseville, MN and Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
