Obituary of Anne Loeppky

After a lengthy struggle with poor health and a short stay at the hospital, Anne Loeppky, sister, aunt and friend, was called home to be with her Saviour, whom she loved, on February 5, 2008, at the age of 79 at the Bethesda Hospital. Anne is survived by sisters: Sara, Mary, Lena (Henry Koop), Liz (Irv Heinrichs), Marge (Wes Loeppky) and Agnes (Ed Thiessen); many nieces and nephews and her “adopted family” Duc, Huong, Danny and Dianna Nguyen, and friends. Anne was predeceased by her parents George and Sara Loeppky and her nephew Bradley. Being the oldest in a family of girls, Anne was dad’s “right hand man” on the farm, even accompanying him on the thresher gang. She was an adventurous woman, who attempted many new things. At a young age she worked as a maid, clerk, and nurses’ aide before she went back to her home town for high school and then entered training for Registered Psychiatric Nursing at Selkirk Mental Hospital, where she graduated with honors in 1960. This training brought her many nursing opportunities and culminated with her career at Rest Haven Nursing Home in 1993, after which she retired and enjoyed the rest of her life spending time with family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Curtis Krahn and the nursing staff at Bethesda Hospital. May she rest in peace. Viewing will be held Friday, February 8, 2008, from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m. with a short devotional at 7:30 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church, 479 Hanover Street, Steinbach, MB and prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chortitzer Mennonite Church with interment at Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive; Winnipeg, MB R3T 5K9.
