Obituary of Lena Mary Borne

Peacefully passed into the arms of her Saviour, with her beloved husband Henry and family at her side on February 7, 2008. Born in Germany, May 13, 1920 to Martin and Elizabeth Schlichting. Lena was raised in the town of Morden, MB and later, Sanford, MB. Married in 1951, Lena and Henry became an integral part of the Headingley farming community. Lena is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry. Children: Martin, David (Carol), Ruth (Rick Hall) & Hilda (Scott Grant). Siblings: Ann (Dyck), Trudy (Jack Remple), Bertha (Alfred Dahl), Ella (Henry Dyck), William (Ester), Henry (Nelly), Adolf (Betty). Grandchildren: Sheri, Shannon (Danny Legge), Kristen, Kimberly, Abby, Tessa. Great-grandchild: Dustin, and Lena’s extensive extended family. Lena’s interests included all family gatherings and anything to do with family. Her enjoyment of traditional hymns and her love of birds and gardening. Lena’s faith in Christianity will continue on into the Lord’s keeping, but her quiet, humble nature will be sorely missed by all. A special thank you to the staff at the Grace Hospital (5th floor North) for the compassionate care and concern of her well being through a difficult time. Funeral service to be held Wednesday, February 13, 2008 - 2:00 p.m. at Springstein Mennonite Church, Springstein, MB. Viewing at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Springstein Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the charity of your choice.
