Erna Toews Isaac was born on August 9, 1921 to Jacob and Anna Giesbrecht Toews, at Greenland, Manitoba. Surrounded by family, she peacefully fell asleep on February 24, 2008, reaching the age of 86 years. Mom grew up in the Greenland area. She gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized on October 9, 1938, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite. Her faith was very precious to her and she embraced it to the end. On September 7, 1947, she married Victor Isaac. They walked life’s pathway together for sixty years, sharing life’s joys and sorrows. Their home was blessed with four sons and three daughters. After spending the first twenty years in the Kleefeld area, they moved to Roblin, MB, where they bought a farm. In 1985, Mom and Dad left to spend a couple of years in a little mission at Skookumchuk, B.C. Lasting friendships were made there. In 2003, due to her failing health, she moved to Maplewood Manor, where she received loving care until her passing. Mom loved singing and the messages in the songs were meaningful to her. She enjoyed meeting people and no one was a stranger. Dad was ordained to the deaconry in 1958 and she faithfully supported him in his calling. We remember Mom as a patient person, contentedly filling her role as housewife and mother. She had a love for nature and things that spoke of God’s greatness. Mom’s greatest desire was to be ready to meet the Lord and that is how she lived her life. We feel confident she is at rest with the Lord. Left to cherish precious memories are her beloved husband, Victor, seven children: Wilmer (Eleanor), Roblin, MB; Corinne, Tatamagouche, NS; Lois (Walter Thiessen), Fort Vermillion, AB; Leon (Marion), Grandview, MB; Richard (Sharon), Moorefield, ON; Juanita, Roblin, MB; Stuart (Cindy), Roblin, MB; twenty seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister Rose Penner; brother Harvey; sisters-in-law, Margaret Toews, Eleanor Isaac, Emily (Winston Wohlgemuth), Hilda (Cliff Giesbrecht); brothers-in-law Otto (Edna) Isaac, Ted Isaac, and John Isaac. Five brothers, seven sisters and two grandsons preceded her in death. A viewing will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Roblin, MB, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Roblin, MB, with interment at the church cemetery.
