Donald F. Daly passed away on April 16, 2007, at the age 74 years. Don was predeceased by his spouse Theresa in December 1991. Don dedicated his life to family and friends. He welcomed everyone with a smile and a humble approach to life. Seldom a raised voice or disparaging word to any that he encountered throughout his life. He will be forever missed by his son Jeff and grandchildren Myla and Ty. Both grandchildren, too young to vividly remember their grandpa, will miss out on the opportunity to experience his kindness and love. He would have loved to proudly show them off to the world. As a Dad, he demonstrated patience and understanding. He was always gentle in his approach to listening and advice. He seldom judged, but was firm with his words of wisdom. His ear for listening will be missed, but never forgotten. He was humble in times of life’s victories and supportive when things seemed bleak. Dad always invited my friends into his home and always made them feel welcomed. Don believed in hard work and dedication to the people he worked for and along side. A Manitoba winter could never be too cold or a summer too hot, for him to complete what he set out to do. He loved his work, but more importantly he loved the people he worked with. Don took pride in his work and was well known for his expertise in the Petroleum business as he dedicated his work life to J.A. Robinson Pump Service. It would be difficult to meet a kinder soul than Don. His quiet approach to life touched many as was evident in his ability to establish close relationships towards the end of his life. Both staff and residents at Middlechurch Nursing Home will fondly remember Don for his love of music and dance. The caring of such people as Tracey, Nancy and Cynthia was reciprocated through his trust. His special relationship with Pat was indicative of his appeal to friendship. I said bye to Dad while we listened to one of his favorite song writer’s, Neil Young. As written in his song, Harvest Moon, “Come a little bit closer Hear what I have to say Just like children sleepin’ We could dream this night away But there’s a full moon risin’ Let’s go dancing in the light We know where the music’s playin’ Let’s go out and feel the night” Dad, I fully expect you to be dancing the night away now that your spirit is free of pain and sorrow. Returned to the arms of your bride, enjoy and dance the night away. Love your son, Jeff. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Don’s life will be scheduled for a future date.
