Obituary of Shirley Anne Hiebert

Shirley Anne Hiebert Shirley Anne Hiebert nee Dueck, at the age of 57, passed on to her heavenly home on March 17, 2008, after a 15 month fight with cancer. Shirley was born in Steinbach, Manitoba to Diedrich U. and Susana Dueck on August 21, 1950. She attended the Steinbach Collegiate where she completed grade 11. She moved to Winnipeg and worked there for a short period of time. She came back to work in Steinbach, where she met the love of her life. She was united in marriage with Dan Hiebert on February 21, 1976, with whom she had two daughters, who were the joy of her life. She worked at the Steinbach Credit Union for 31 years. After she retired, she, along with her niece and a friend opened up “The Scrapbook Cottage” in Steinbach where she was able to do what she loved. She was an active member of the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church, where she taught Girls Clubs and Sunday School for many years. She was also involved in teaching craft/card classes for women’s ministry. She is survived by her husband, Dan Hiebert, her two daughters, Theresa Hiebert and Laura (Bryan) Toews, mother Susana Dueck, three sisters, Adina (George) Boschman, Ruth (Wayne) Stewart, Elma (Garnet) Isaac, and four brothers, Bernie (Darlene), Dave (Margaret), Robert (Janine), Jim (Lynn). She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her father in 1996, her mother-in-law- in 2003 and her father-in-law in 2005. The funeral will take place at the Steinbach Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main Street, Steinbach, on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., with viewing prior to the service. Interment will take place at Heritage Cemetery.
